An end of season visit to the Masai Mara, Nakuru and Samburu in 2009 provided some memorable moments.  At the beginning of the trip the Mara was parched and water levels very low.  We had excellent cat sightings and plenty of opportunities to watch youngsters resting and playing.  Despite it being late in the year we saw migration crossings and because water levels were low saw amazing crocodile activity.  Towards the end of the time in the Mara we had much needed rain which laid the dust and over a couple of days the plains greened.  Nakuru was wet and at times stormy but I don't think there can be anywhere better to watch flamingos or rhinos.  We arrived at Samburu in torrential rain and the river was a raging torrent.  It was green and vibrant and as the weather cleared the elephants returned and once they arrived there were herds everywhere!
